REPORT TO COUNCIL
SUBJECT
Title
Resolution Ordering the Vacation of the Underground Electric Easements at 3255 Scott Boulevard
Report

BACKGROUND
On December 15, 2015, Council approved the Irvine Company's Santa Clara Square Residential/Mixed Use Project (Project) at 3255 Scott Boulevard. Subsequently, Amendment #1 to the Project was approved by Council on November 21, 2017. The Project consists of up to 1,840 dwelling units, 40,000 square feet of retail space, 4,500 square feet of leasing space, and 38,000 square feet of amenity space.

DISCUSSION
Due to the redevelopment of the property, the underground electric easements encumbering the property prior to redevelopment have been relocated or determined to be excess; and the existing easements are therefore no longer necessary. To clear these unnecessary encumbrances on the property, the property owner now requests that the City vacate these easements. Silicon Valley Power, the only agency having an interest in these easements, has agreed to the vacation.

ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
The potential environmental impacts of the project were addressed in the Environmental Impact Report (EIR) prepared for the Project and were certified and approved by Council on December 15, 2015. Subsequently, EIR Addendum No. 1 was approved by Council on November 21, 2017.

FISCAL IMPACT
There is no additional cost to the City other than staff time and expense.

COORDINATION
This report has been coordinated with Silicon Valley Power and the City Attorney's Office.
