REPORT TO YOUTH COMMISSION

SUBJECT
Title
Youth Commission Committee Report on Work Plan Goal-Environmentalism

Report
BACKGROUND
The Youth Commission FY 2019/20 Work Plan includes a goal to increase community awareness of, and connection to, local resources and organizations that support environmental awareness and sustainability. During their last term, commissioners hosted "Run Santa Clara: A Family 5K" that encouraged healthy habits for all ages and included information booths hosted by local community-based organizations that focused on sustainability.

DISCUSSION
The Youth Commission's Environmental Committee (Committee) members will provide an update to meeting attendees on ideas to implement the Committee's goals. One possible activity is to host a public Environmental Fair featuring booths with local resources from community-based organizations and City departments. Committee members are expected to discuss and gather feedback on the tentative activity.

ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
The action being considered does not constitute a "project" within the meaning of the California Environmental Quality Act ("CEQA") pursuant to CEQA Guidelines section 15378(b)(5) in that it is a governmental organizational or administrative activity that will not result in direct or indirect changes in the environment.

PUBLIC CONTACT
Public contact was made by posting the Youth Commission's agenda on the City's official-notice bulletin board outside City Hall Council Chambers. A complete agenda packet is available on the City's website and in the City Clerk's Office at least 72 hours prior to a Regular Meeting and 24 hours prior to a Special Meeting. A hard copy of any agenda report may be requested by contacting the City Clerk's Office at (408) 615-2220, e-mail clerk@santaclaraca.gov or at the public information desk at any City of Santa Clara public library.
