REPORT TO BICYCLE AND PEDESTRIAN ADVISORY COMMITTEE
SUBJECT
Title
Revisit Recommendations from Bike Plan (Shariat)
Report
BACKGROUND
In October 2019, Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) Member Kratz requested to add “Revisit recommendations from Bike Plan (2018)” (Attachment 1) and Member Sterk requested to add “Annual and 3 year review” (Attachment 2) to the Work Plan for future discussion. Both requests emphasized the importance of reporting the progress of implementing recommendations in the 2018 Bicycle Plan Update (Plan) to the BPAC.
DISCUSSION
Staff will provide an update on progress made on recommended priority bicycle projects and programs within the Plan.
The Plan recommended several bicycle projects, including 40 top priority projects, to enhance corridors and intersections. Attachment 3 provides a status report on the progress the City has made regarding these top 40 priority projects. The report includes projects which currently have a dedicated funding source.
The Plan also recommended various bicycle related programs and activities. The programs are organized based on four of the five “E’s,” which are education, encouragement, enforcement, and evaluation. The fifth “E” is equity, which shall be incorporated throughout all the Plan’s program recommendations. Attachment 4 provides a status report on the progress of all the bicycle related programs and activities.
BPAC is encouraged to discuss this item and provide feedback to staff.
