REPORT TO PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION

SUBJECT
Title
Recommendation to the City Council to Adopt a Resolution Establishing the 2027 Parks & Recreation Commission Meeting Calendar

Report
BACKGROUND
City Charter Section 1003 requires the City boards and commissions to hold regular meetings as prescribed by ordinance. City Code Section 2.120.030 states that regular meeting dates and times are established by City Council resolutions and may be amended by subsequent resolution.

In 1987, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 5195, establishing the meeting schedule (Attachment 1) for the Parks & Recreation Commission (Commission). Subsequently, Resolution 24-9337 (Attachment 2) set the Commission’s regular meetings to the second Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m.

The purpose of this report is to present the proposed 2027 meeting calendar (Attachment 3) and accompanying draft resolution (Attachment 4) for the Commission's consideration and recommendation to the City Council.

DISCUSSION
The Parks & Recreation Commission annually reviews and recommends a calendar of regular for Council approval.

The proposed 2027 meeting calendar generally follows the Commission's established schedule of meeting on the second Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. In accordance with past practice, should a regular meeting fall on a City holiday, the meeting may be rescheduled as needed. In 2027, Indigenous People’s Day Holiday will fall on the second Monday of October. Accordingly, no Commission meeting is proposed for that month.

The proposed calendar includes eleven (11) regular meetings for calendar year 2027, with no meeting scheduled for October.

Upon the Commission’s approval, the proposed meeting calendar and accompanying draft resolution will be forwarded to the City Council for consideration and adoption.
