Informational Report - Santa Clara City Library’s Seed Share Program

BACKGROUND
One June 2, 2025, the Board of Library Trustees took action to identify areas of Library operations in which the Board hopes to become better informed. That action was intended to support board development, and to help Trustees better advocate for the Library in the community and support fundraising initiatives.
DISCUSSION
An informational report will be presented to the Board of Library Trustees on the Seed Share program, which provides a variety of seeds available for free to the public. The seed collection is further supported by books and programs with gardening experts, engaging all ages in learning about plants and gardening.
The presentation will be provided by Rachel Hughes, Librarian.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
The action being considered does not constitute a “project” within the meaning of the California Environmental Quality Act (“CEQA”) pursuant to CEQA Guidelines section 15378(b)(5) in that it is a governmental organizational or administrative activity that will not result in direct or indirect changes in the environment.
FISCAL IMPACT
There is no fiscal impact.

Public contact was made by posting the Board agenda on the City’s official-notice bulletin board outside City Hall Council Chambers. A complete agenda packet is available on the City’s website and in the City Clerk’s Office at least 72 hours prior to a Regular Meeting and 24 hours prior to a Special Meeting.
