Report

DISCUSSION

At the May 20th CRC meeting, the City Attorney presented to the full CRC Board the substantially completed work of Groups Two and Six for CRC consideration and action.  The presentation included a list of key provisions updated along with actual Charter language for all assigned Sections.  Subject to a couple of follow up assignments for City staff, the CRC voted to approve the language presented for both Groups Two and Six, in substantially the form presented, with direction to bring back finalized language at a future CRC meeting for recommendation to the City Council.

At this meeting, the CRC will be asked to consider presentations of the work completed by Groups One, Three and Four, along with a status update on discussions with labor groups regarding the previously approved language for Group Five that was presented back on January 20th.

As of the date of this report, the City Attorney is still working on getting the specific language for all Groups in the best possible forms to facilitate CRC review, consideration and action, and to give the public a good understanding of what changes are being proposed.  Once these forms are ready, they will be distributed to the full CRC membership and uploaded on the City’s website for public access.  This will be done as far in advance of the May 27th meeting as possible.

RECOMMENDATION

Recommendation

Receive and provide feedback on reports of those Subcommittees reporting and take such action as the Committee deems appropriate to initially approve the proposed changes from Groups One, Three and Four, substantially in the forms presented, with direction to bring back finalized language to the CRC at a future meeting to be part of the CRC’s overall recommendation to the City Council for the Charter Project.
