DISCUSSION
A publicly noticed Planning Commission Hearing was held on December 4, 2024, to consider the proposed Variance where staff requested a continuance to the January 15, 2025, Planning Commission hearing because staff was not able to confirm attendance of the applicant. At the January 15, 2025 meeting, a further continuance was requested to accommodate the applicant’s inability to attend the meeting. The item was continued to date uncertain.
A publicly noticed Planning Commission Hearing was scheduled for May 21, 2025, Planning Commission Hearing. Staff is requesting a continuance of this item to the August 13, 2025, Planning Commission meeting because the applicant is unable to attend the May 21, 2025, Planning Commission hearing due to a medical emergency (Attachment 1). The applicant has requested this continuance.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
No environmental determination is necessary for a continuance. An environmental determination will be included with the report for the August 13, 2025, Planning Commission meeting.

Public contact was made by posting the Planning Commission agenda on the City’s official-notice bulletin board outside City Hall Council Chambers. A complete agenda packet is available on the City’s website and in the City Clerk’s Office. A hard copy of any agenda report may be requested by contacting the City Clerk’s Office at (408) 615-2220, email clerk@santaclaraca.gov <mailto:clerk@santaclaraca.gov> or at the public information desk at any City of Santa Clara public library.
A public hearing notice was mailed to property owners within a 300-foot radius of the project site on May 8, 2025. Should the Commission open the public hearing and then continue the hearing for this project to the August 13, 2025, Planning Commission meeting, additional noticing will not be required.
RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation
Staff recommends that the Planning Commission open the public hearing on this item and then immediately continue the proposed project to the August 13, 2025, Planning Commission meeting.
