REPORT TO SENIOR ADVISORY COMMISSION

SUBJECT

Title

Receive Presentation and Provide Input for the Study Session on the Library Facilities Master Plan

Report

COUNCIL PILLAR

Enhance Community Engagement and Transparency

BACKGROUND

MSR Design (Consultant), the City’s selected consultant, is working with the Library to create a Library Facilities Master Plan to project for the future of library services for the next 20 years. This project includes meetings with staff, the community and community stakeholders. Other boards and commissions have participated in providing input for the Library Facilities Master Plan, including the Youth Advisory Commission and the Planning Commission. These meetings will help inform the recommendations for the Library and ensure that the Consultant is hearing and addressing the community’s needs.

DISCUSSION

The purpose of this report and presentation is to support a study session on this topic and to receive input from the Senior Advisory Commission on the development of the City’s Library Facilities Master Plan.

The Consultant will query the Senior Advisory Commission about goals for the Santa Clara community and how the Library can help the community reach those goals. The discussion will include a brief presentation and request for input on the needs of the Santa Clara community.

ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW

A Study Session does not constitute a “project” within the meaning of the California Environmental Quality Act (“CEQA”) pursuant to CEQA Guidelines section 15378(b)(5) in that it is a governmental activity that will not result in direct or indirect changes in the environment.

PUBLIC CONTACT

Public contact was made by posting the Senior Advisory Commission agenda on the City’s official-notice bulletin board outside City Hall Council Chambers. A complete agenda packet is available on the City’s website and in the City Clerk’s Office at least 72 hours prior to a Regular Meeting and 24 hours prior to a Special Meeting. A hard copy of any agenda report may be requested by contacting the City Clerk’s Office at (408) 615-2220, email clerk@santaclaraca.gov or at the public information desk at any City of Santa Clara public library.
