Title

Proclaim April 30  through May 6, 2023 as Municipal Clerks Week

Report

BACKGROUND

April 30 through May 6, 2023 will be the 54th Annual Professional Municipal Clerks Week. Initiated in 1969 by International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC) and endorsed by all of its members throughout the United States, Canada and 15 other countries, the week is a time of celebration and reflection on the importance of the Clerk’s office. In 1984, President Ronald Reagan signed a proclamation that officially declared Municipal Clerks Week the first full week of May. In 1994 and 1996, President Bill Clinton also signed proclamations confirming Municipal Clerks Week.

IMCC is a professional, nonprofit association that promotes continuing education and certification. It is the leading professional association serving the needs of municipalities through promoting municipal research administration, enhancing critical professional skill development and fostering a spirit of mutual assistance and good fellowship among municipal clerks around the globe.
