REPORT TO COUNCIL

SUBJECT

Title

Recognition of Funds Raised to Benefit Local Programs from the 2023 Santa Clara Historic Home Tour

Report

BACKGROUND

The Santa Clara Historic Home Tour began in 1978 to showcase unique homes in Santa Clara and to benefit local nonprofits. A few years later, the tour became an annual holiday event sponsored by the Historic Preservation Society of Santa Clara, with assistance from the Old Quad Residents’ Association. The proceeds from the tour are awarded to organizations that either promote historic preservation in Santa Clara or have supported the Santa Clara Historic Home Tour.

DISCUSSION

During the June 25, 2024 City Council meeting, the City Council will recognize the efforts of the Santa Clara Historic Home Tour and acknowledge their commitment to giving back to the local community.

Representative Janet Stevenson from the Santa Clara Historic Home Tour will present checks to the following recipients during the meeting:

1.                     Historic Preservation Society of Santa Clara for the Harris Lass Museum

2.                     Santa Clara Woman's Club for projects to preserve their Adobe clubhouse

3.                     Old Quad Residents' Association for their projects to preserve and promote the Old Quad neighborhood

4.                     Santa Clara County Historical & Genealogical Society for their efforts to assist the Library in preserving and maintaining the collections in the Central Park Library Heritage Pavilion or towards one of their historic preservation and digitization project

5.                     South Bay Historical Railroad Society for their Museum in the Santa Clara Railroad depot

6.                     Santa Clara Senior Center for the Health & Wellness/Nutrition program

7.                     Santa Clara Fire Museum on Walsh Avenue
