REPORT TO COUNCIL

SUBJECT

Title

Action on a Resolution Revising the Joint Council and Authorities/Stadium Authority Regular Meetings Dates for the 2026 Calendar Year

Report

BACKGROUND

On September 11, 2025, the Council set the Joint Council and Authorities/Stadium Authority Board regular meeting dates for the 2026 calendar year. Pursuant to Charter Sec. 707, the City Council shall hold regular meetings at least twice each month.

DISCUSSION

This year the General Election falls on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, and a Joint Council and Authorities and Stadium Authority Board meeting was inadvertently scheduled on that same date. It is recommended that the Council adopt a Resolution revising the Joint Council and Authorities/Stadium Authority Board regular meeting dates for the 2026 calendar year to reflect the cancelation of the November 3, 2026, Joint Council and Authorities and Stadium Authority Board regular meeting and set November 10, 2026 in-lieu as a Joint Council and Authorities and Stadium Authorities regular meeting.

A copy of the Resolution and the Revised Council and Authorities Meetings 2026 is attached.

ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW

The action being considered does not constitute a “project” within the meaning of the California Environmental Quality Act (“CEQA”) pursuant to CEQA Guidelines section 15378(b)(5) in that it is a governmental organizational or administrative activity that will not result in direct or indirect changes in the environment.

FISCAL IMPACT

There is no fiscal impact other than administrative time and expense to cancel and set the meetings.

COORDINATION

This report has been coordinated with the City Attorney’s Office.

PUBLIC CONTACT

Public contact was made by posting the Council agenda on the City’s official-notice bulletin board outside City Hall Council Chambers. A complete agenda packet is available on the City’s website and in the City Clerk’s Office at least 72 hours prior to a Regular Meeting and 24 hours prior to a Special Meeting. A hard copy of any agenda report may be requested by contacting the City Clerk’s Office at (408) 615-2220, email clerk@santaclaraca.gov or at the public information desk at any City of Santa Clara public library.

RECOMMENDATION

Recommendation

Adopt a Resolution revising the Joint Council and Authorities/Stadium Authority Board regular meeting dates for the 2026 calendar year to reflect the cancelation of the November 3, 2026, meeting and to set November 10, 2026 in-lieu as a Joint City Council and Authorities Concurrent and Santa Clara Stadium Authority Board regular meeting.
