Presentation of a Proclamation for Foster Care/Resource Parent Awareness Month

BACKGROUND
Foster Care/Resource Parent Awareness Month honors and recognizes foster/resource parents and families, the children and youth in foster care, and organizations that provide support to children and youth in need. Santa Clara County has over 1,100 children and youth, who live in the foster care system, and has approximately 250 active foster/resource homes that provide a safe, secure, and stable home environment for children and youth.
DISCUSSION
During the month of May, there will be hundreds of community events nationwide to appreciate, retain, recruit and support foster-resource parents. In honor of Foster Care/Resource Parent Awareness Month, the City Council will present the Foster Care/Resource Parent Awareness Month proclamation to the Santa Clara County Department of Family and Children’s Services.

This is an informational report only and no action is being taken by the City Council and no environmental review under the California Environmental Quality Act (“CEQA”) is required.
