BACKGROUND
Assemblymember Patrick Ahrens represents California State Assembly District 26, which includes the Cities of Cupertino, Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, part of City of San Jose, and unincorporated areas in the County of Santa Clara.

Assemblymember Ahrens serves as a member of the California State Assembly's Standing Committees on Budget; Business and Professions, Communications and Conveyance; Rules; and Transportation; Select Committees on Asia/California Trade and Investment; Biotechnology and Medical Technology; CalFresh Enrollment and Nutrition; Child Care Costs; Domestic Violence; Housing Finance and Affordability; Master Plan for Higher Education in California; and Sea Level Rise and the California Economy; and Budget Subcommittee No. 2 on Human Services.

DISCUSSION
Assemblymember Ahrens will give a presentation on his legislative update. A copy of the presentation is attached to this report.

ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
The action being considered does not constitute a "project" within the meaning of the California Environmental Quality Act ("CEQA") pursuant to CEQA Guidelines section 15378(b)(5) in that it is a governmental organizational or administrative activity that will not result in direct or indirect changes in the environment.

FISCAL IMPACT
There is no fiscal impact associated with this item aside from administrative time to prepare the report.
