REPORT TO COUNCIL
SUBJECT
Title
2025 Santa Clara Relay for Life
Report
BACKGROUND
The Santa Clara Relay for Life is a local community fundraising event that brings together individuals, families, businesses, and organizations to support the fight against cancer. Participants form teams, walk in honor of those impacted by cancer and raise funds for research, patient services, and education. At the event, Relay for Life will celebrate survivors and recognize caregivers and those who are fighting against cancer. In the evening, the event will host a luminaria ceremony to remember all the lives lost.
Cancer affects millions of people, and Relay for Life provides an opportunity for the community to come together, honor survivors, remember those lost, and take action.
The funds raised will support the mission of the American Cancer Society and support cancer research, assistance to patients such as free rides to treatment, a 24/7 helpline for support and information, and programs that promote prevention and early detection.
The Santa Clara Relay for Life event strengthens community bonds by encouraging local businesses, schools, and residents to participate in a meaningful cause while enjoying a day of remembrance, celebration, and action.
