REPORT TO COUNCIL
SUBJECT
Title
Joint City Council and Senior Advisory Commission Dinner Meeting

Report
BACKGROUND
On July 19, 2016, the City Council approved publicly noticed joint dinner meetings between the City Council and Boards and Commissions in an effort to increase communication between City Council and City boards, committees, and commissions.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, these meetings were suspended and thus these joint meetings have not taken place since February 25, 2020.

DISCUSSION
As a continued commitment to enhance communication between the City Council and boards, committees, and commissions, the City Council will recommence their meetings with City boards, committees, and commissions for regular updates. On September 12, 2023, the Senior Advisory Commission will meet with the City Council for a joint dinner meeting.

The meeting agenda (Attachment 1) will begin with introductions from the Mayor, City Councilmembers, Commissioners, and City staff. The City Manager will then present an update on the organization and also discuss the need to enhance the annual Board and Commission workplan development process to align with the City Council priority setting process. The presentation will include an organizational update on the City, the annual board and commission workplan process, and Board accomplishments. The Senior Advisory Commission will present an update on accomplishments in the past year.

The Council and staff look forward to the upcoming joint dinner meeting with the Senior Advisory Committee.
