DISCUSSION
The terms of the following elected officials will be expiring November 2020: Council District 1 - Councilmember Kathy Watanabe, Council District 4 - Councilmember Teresa O'Neill, Council District 5 - Vacant, Council District 6 - Councilmember Debi Davis, Chief of Police Pat Nikolai, and City Clerk Hosam Haggag.

Attached for Council consideration is a Resolution: 1) Calling and giving notice of a General Municipal Election to be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 for the election of four Councilmembers one for each Council District 1, 4, 5 and 6, one Chief of Police and one City Clerk; 2) Requesting that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Santa Clara consolidate the General Municipal Election with the Statewide General Election; and 3) Adopt regulations for Candidate Statements of Qualifications submitted to the voters and levying a share of the cost of the candidates' statements.

FISCAL IMPACT
The estimated cost received by the Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters for holding the General Municipal Election is approximately $271,038, which is included in the City Clerk's Fiscal Year 2020-21 budget.
