DISCUSSION

Commissioner Inciarte will lead a discussion to gauge the Commission’s interest in pursuing a potential Historic Resource Inventory (HRI) designation for the gravesite of Tiburcio Vásquez, located at the Santa Clara Mission Cemetery in Santa Clara.

Tiburcio Vásquez was a notable and controversial figure in California history, known for his role as a 19th-century Californio bandit and folk hero. His life and legacy are subjects of historical interest and cultural significance.

The purpose of this discussion is to consider the historical relevance of the site and to determine whether there is Commission support for further research and potential initiation of the landmarking process in accordance with Section 18.130.040 of the Zoning Ordinance.
