REPORT TO PLANNING COMMISSION

SUBJECT

Title

Discussion Regarding Appointing Planning Commissioners to Attend Council Meetings as an Official Representative of the Planning Commission for Items Being Heard at a Council Meeting That Were Previously Heard at a Planning Commission Meeting.

Report

BACKGROUND

At the June 10, 2026 Planning Commission meeting the Commission voted 6-1 (Commissioner Bhatnagar absent) to agendize a discussion on appointing two Planning Commissioners, one in a primary role and one in a backup role, for a specific period of time to attend Council Meetings as an official representative of the Planning Commission for items being heard at a Council Meeting that were previously heard at a Planning Commission meeting.

DISCUSSION

Chair Crutchlow suggested that this new process may be helpful to the Council when hearing items that had previously been presented to the Planning Commission and that having a Commissioner present at the Council meeting could provide additional insight and information to the Council and public regarding the votes and decisions made by the Planning Commission on items.

FISCAL IMPACT

There is no fiscal impact or costs associated with this item.
