BACKGROUND
The City of Santa Clara (City) works collaboratively with the County of Santa Clara (County) to provide a Senior Nutrition Congregate Meals Program (Program) at the Santa Clara Senior Center. The Program is designed for seniors, age 60 and over, serving a basic need for lower-income households and special needs populations. The goals of the Program are to reduce hunger and food insecurity, increase socialization, and promote the well-being of older adults. The Program also serves as a gateway to other supportive community programs and services at the Senior Center.
DISCUSSION
On May 6, 2024, the County authorized a contract with the City of Santa Clara for the provision of a Senior Nutrition Congregate Meals Program for FY 2024/25 effective July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025 (Attachment 1).
The Contract has a total program cost of $189,478 for FY 2024/25. The County will reimburse the City a maximum amount of $139,872, 73.8% of the total program cost. This amount assumes the City will provide 18,600 meals (75 meals average per day for 248 days of service at a rate of $7.52 per meal). As in previous years, the Agreement requires a City match in the form of volunteer hours and City funding. Of the remaining Program expenditures, 14.7% will be offset by a City match of $27,756 in the form of volunteer hours and 11.5% will be offset by a General Fund allocation of $21,851 (Attachment 2).
The purpose of this item is to seek approval and authorization for the City Manager to execute the agreement for FY 2024/25 and any related budget amendments.
