BACKGROUND
Sections 4 and 6 of the Personnel and Salary Resolution require City Council approval of new or revised classifications. The proposed Council action satisfies these applicable requirements.
Various Modifications to Existing Classified Classifications
The Police Department coordinated with the Human Resources Department to modify the Recruit Police Officer (Job Code 689) and Police Officer (Job Code 650) classifications to incorporate revisions to the class specifications required under Assembly Bill 846 and Senate Bill 2, and to better align with the duties required to be performed.
The Fire Department worked with the Human Resources Department to revise the Firefighter I (Job Code 487) class specification to expand the minimum qualifications and update the classification to reflect current requirements of the job.
These modifications were approved by the Civil Service Commission on September 12, 2022.

The Police Department coordinated with the Human Resources Department to revise the Recruit Police Officer (Job Code 689) and Police Officer (Job Code 650) classifications in order to align with revisions under Assembly Bill 846 and Senate Bill 2.
