BACKGROUND
Sections 4 and 6 of the Personnel and Salary Resolution require City Council approval of new or revised classifications. The proposed Council action satisfies these applicable requirements.
Various Modifications to Existing Classified Classifications
The Water and Sewer Utilities Department coordinated with the Human Resources Department to modify and retitle the Facilities Technician to Utility Inspection Technician (Job Code 469) and Facilities Supervisor to Utility Inspection Supervisor (Job Code 467) in order to better align with the duties required to be performed.
These modifications were approved by the Civil Service Commission on December 12, 2022.
Adopt Updated Classified Salary Plan
Section 9 of the Personnel and Salary Resolution requires City Council approval of compensation plans for classified positions. California Code Regulations Section 570.5 governs and requires the adoption of updated publicly available salary schedules by the governing body. The proposed Council action satisfies these applicable requirements. The updated salary plan reflects the retitle of the Facilities Technician to Utility Inspection Technician (Job Code 469) and Facilities Supervisor to Utility Inspection Supervisor (Job Code 467) classifications. Additionally, due to an administrative error, the salary ranges for Firefighter I 24 HRS (Job Code 487S) and Firefighter I 80 HRS (Job Code 487Y) have been corrected on the salary plan with a December 25, 2022 effective date.
