SUBJECT
Title
Report from 2018 Izumo, Japan Student-Exchange Trip
Report
BACKGROUND
The Santa Clara Sister Cities Association (SCSCA) offers scholarships to Santa Clara high school students for their student-exchange programs in order for students to learn about and experience the culture of Santa Clara’s sister cities of Coimbra, Portugal, Izumo, Japan, and Limerick, Ireland. The scholarship program offers the students an opportunity to work with the Santa Clara community, get involved in international exchange efforts, and visit and meet people in our sister cities.
DISCUSSION
On June 10-20, 2018, Santa Clara high school students travelled to Izumo, Japan, for the Annual SCSCA student-exchange trip.
The students and their chaperones will provide a brief overview of their trip, share their experiences from their trip to Izumo, and discuss opportunities for members of our community to become involved with SCSCA and to gain insight into the world around us.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
This is an information report only and no action is being taken by the City Council and no environmental review under the California Environmental Quality Act (“CEQA”) is required.
