BACKGROUND
On May 16, 2022 the City Council held a special meeting to conduct interviews as part of the annual recruitment process to fill vacancies on various Board and Commissions. At that meeting the Council interviewed four applicants for the Senior Advisory Commission and made two appointments and established an eligibility list should any vacancy occur within the next six months. The Council placed Rick Andrews and Veena Sterling on the list and is to invite them back for a second interview should a vacancy occur.

On June 6, 2022, Senior Advisory Commissioner Helen Narciso emailed her resignation from the Senior Advisory Commission effective June 20, 2022, therefore creating a vacancy on the Senior Advisory Commission.

DISCUSSION
The City Clerk's office reached out to both Rick Andrews and Veena Sterling and confirmed that there was still an interest to serve on the Senior Advisory Commission, both were invited back for a second interview.

The City Clerk's office proceeds with the interview process with the following candidates:

1. Rick Andrews
2. Veena Sterling

Each candidate met the requirement of being a resident of the City of Santa Clara.

Attached are 2 applications and voting guidelines (Attachments 1 and 2) for the appointment of Boards and Commissions, which outline the process for conducting interviews and casting votes by the Council for applicants.
