SUBJECT
Title
Proclamation of Red Cross Month
Report
BACKGROUND
The month of March is celebrated as Red Cross Month in cities and counties across the United States. Red Cross Month recognizes American Red Cross volunteers and donors, who give their time and resources to help members of the community during times of crisis.
DISCUSSION
As a Special Order of Business on March 20, 2018, the City Council would like to recognize the month of March as Red Cross Month. The American Red Cross Silicon Valley Chapter has fulfilled a vital role in our community by providing aid and support during times of emergencies. The work of the American Red Cross Silicon Valley Chapter includes: providing aid during local disasters, setting up shelters, preparing and shipping care packages to troops overseas, donating blood, and teaching life-saving training classes. In honor of Red Cross Month, the City Council will present the Red Cross Month proclamation to the American Red Cross Silicon Valley Chapter.
