Report

BACKGROUND
Each year, thousands of Silicon Valley families struggle to find an affordable home in one of the most expensive housing markets in the nation. In Santa Clara County, 7,400 individuals are experiencing homelessness, with 74 percent of whom are unsheltered.

SV@Home and its partner agencies have organized Affordable Housing Week events to showcase the crucial value and need for safe, stable, and affordable housing throughout Santa Clara County.

DISCUSSION
The City Council would like to recognize the week of May 11-18, 2018 as Affordable Housing Week. These week-long events celebrate affordable housing to raise awareness, educate, and unite Santa Clara County's diverse community on affordable housing issues.

In honor of Affordable Housing Week, the City Council will present the Affordable Housing Week proclamation to SV@Home. Kelly Snider, SV@Home Board Member, will attend the City Council meeting to accept the proclamation and speak on behalf of SV@Home on Affordable Housing Week.
