Wilcox High School Robotics Team Update

BACKGROUND

The Wilcox High School Robotics Team qualified to attend the Western US First Tech Challenge (FTC) Super Regional Tournament in Spokane, Washington on March 9-11, 2018.  On February 26, 2018, the City received a request from Wilcox Robotics, an afterschool program at Wilcox High School, for $2,000 in funding through its Championship Team Funding program.  On March 6, 2018, the City Council approved a Contribution Agreement with Wilcox Robotics, for $2,000 in funding, to assist the team to travel to Spokane, Washington to compete in First Tech Challenge West Super Regional Championship.

 

DISCUSSION

The Wilcox High School Robotics team travelled to Spokane, Washington on March 9-11, 2018, to compete in the Western US FTC Super Regional Tournament.  The team will provide an update to the City Council, City Staff, and the community on the trip and the competition, as well as thank the City Council for approving the team funding for this trip.

This is an informational report only and no action is being taken by the City Council and no environmental review under the California Environmental Quality Act (“CEQA”) is required.
