BACKGROUND
At the April 24, 2018 Council meeting, Council declared a vacancy on the Cultural Commission for a partial term ending June 30, 2021. During their April presentation, the Cultural Commission promoted the vacancy as part of their monthly update to Council. The vacancy was also advertised on the City's website, social media outlets and in the City Manager's Blog.

DISCUSSION
Interviews will be held in the City Manager's Staff Conference Room.

The Office of the City Clerk received eight (8) applications (Attachment 1) by the May 23, 2018 administrative deadline from the following individuals:

1. Kelly Gonzalez
2. Maria Horwich
3. Luis Lecanda
4. Jonathan Marinaro
5. Anousheh Mortazavi
6. Kirankumar Shinde
7. Teresa Sulcer
8. Snehalata Vedula

Attached are the voting guidelines (Attachment 2) for the appointment of applicants to Boards and Commissions, which outline the process for conducting interviews and casting votes by the Council for applicants.

ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
The action being considered does not constitute a "project" within the meaning of the California Environmental Quality Act ("CEQA") pursuant to CEQA Guidelines section 15378(a) as it has no potential for resulting in either a direct physical change in the environment, or a reasonably foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment.
FISCAL IMPACT
There is no additional expense to the City other than staff time.

Public contact was made by posting the Council agenda on the City's official-notice bulletin board outside City Hall Council Chambers. A complete agenda packet is available on the City's website and in the City Clerk's Office at least 72 hours prior to a Regular Meeting and 24 hours prior to a Special Meeting.
