Senior Advisory Commission draft 2018-19 Work Plan & Goals
Report
BACKGROUND
At the June 25, 2017 Senior Advisory Commission meeting, the Commission brainstormed projects and activities for the 2018-19 Work Plan. The draft plan was created through discussion of current trends relating to the senior population. The following goals are of interest based on priority and community needs:
• Develop opportunities to promote Health and Wellness
o Host “Be Strong, Live Long” Health & Wellness Fair - May 2019
o Support the “Sandwich” generation through activities, events, and education opportunities
• Promote Quarterly Elder Fraud Prevention Workshops
• Champion implementation of the Senior Needs Assessment findings
• Send two (2) representatives to attend the City’s ADA Committee
• Send two (2) representatives to attend the Pedestrian Master Plan Committee
DISCUSSION
Beginning in August, the Senior Advisory Commission will provide monthly updates on the status of the Work Plan Goals for the year. Commissioners will participate in projects based on interest and availability.
A. Develop opportunities to promote Health and Wellness
• Commissioner McCauley will provide a verbal update on the “Be Strong, Live Long” Health & Wellness Fair
• Commissioners will provide a verbal update on the support of the “Sandwich generation” through activities, events, and education opportunities
B. Promote Elder Fraud Prevention Workshops
• Commissioners will provide a verbal update on the promotion of Elder Fraud Prevention Workshops in the areas of emotional, financial, internet safety and other relevant topics.
C. Champion implementation of the Senior Needs Assessment findings
• Commissioners will discuss the findings of the Senior Needs Assessment and potential recommendations for City consideration.
D. Send two (2) representatives to attend the City’s ADA Committee
• Commissioners will provide a verbal update.
E. Send two (2) representatives to attend the Pedestrian Master Plan Committee
• Commissioners will provide a verbal update.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
The action being considered does not constitute a “project” within the meaning of the California Environmental Quality Act (“CEQA”) pursuant to CEQA Guidelines section 15378(b)(5) in that it is a governmental organizational or administrative activity that will not result in direct or indirect changes in the environment.

Public contact was made by posting the Senior Advisory Commission’s agenda on the City’s official-notice bulletin board outside City Hall Council Chambers. A complete agenda packet is available on the City’s website and in the City Clerk’s Office at least 72 hours prior to a Regular Meeting and 24 hours prior to a Special Meeting.
