BACKGROUND
Charter Section 702 requires the Salary Setting Commission (Commission) to set the compensation of the Mayor and Council prior to March 15, 2019 and thereafter, every two years. The Charter provision also provides that salaries so established by the Commission shall not exceed one hundred ten percent (110%) of the previous figure. City Code Section 2.20.015 requires the Commission to set the City Clerk's compensation on July 1, 2019, and every two years thereafter. City Code Section 2.80.015 requires the Commission to set the Chief of Police's compensation on July 1, 2019, and every two years thereafter.

DISCUSSION
At its previous meeting, the Commission requested information regarding comparator agencies. The information request categories include: number of meetings attended annually by council members; number of authorities on which council members serve; number of committees on which council members serve; annual budgets of authorities which council members review and approve; comparator agency populations (as established by the 2010 Census); prior history of compensation or stipends for comparator agencies; benefits available to council members; and cost of living information for the region.

Staff is providing responsive information currently available (Attachment 1). Staff is still working with neighboring cities for number of committees Councilmembers serve on and the agencies' budget.

There is no fiscal impact associated with this item.
