BACKGROUND
Per Council Policy 020 (Attachment 1) titled “Proclamations”, proclamations may honor individuals or organizations as recognition of special events, days, or months. It further prescribes that proclamations shall be issued upon the retirement of City of Santa Clara or Santa Clara Unified School District employees, who have served for thirty years or more. Such proclamations issued shall be reported to the City Council.
DISCUSSION
The following individuals received a City Proclamation for retiring with 30 or more years of service:
JOHN ROUKEMA - Chief Electric Utility Officer, Electric Utility Department
Retired December 28, 2018 with 38 years of dedicated public service
STEVEN PEREIRA - Water & Sewer Maintenance Worker II, Water & Sewer Utilities Department
Retired December 29, 2018 with 32 years of dedicated public service
PUBLIC CONTACT
Public contact was made by posting the Council agenda on the City’s official-notice bulletin board outside City Hall Council Chambers. A complete agenda packet is available on the City’s website and in the City Clerk’s Office at least 72 hours prior to a Regular Meeting and 24 hours prior to a Special Meeting.
