Recognition of Outgoing Commissioner: Former Planning Commissioner Raj Chahal

BACKGROUND
Council Policy 003 - Guidelines for Recognition of Volunteers, Community Leaders and Outstanding Citizens, includes the recognition of Commissioners who have served on a City Commission. In addition, past City practice has been to recognize outgoing Commissioners for their years of service at a Council meeting.
DISCUSSION
As a Special Order of Business, the Mayor and Council will recognize former Planning Commissioner Raj Chahal.
Mr. Chahal was appointed to serve a partial term on the Planning Commission on January 29, 2013, and was appointed to serve his first full term on April 8, 2014. Mr. Chahal was then reappointed to serve a second term on June 12, 2018. Raj Chahal was successfully elected to the City Council for the November 6, 2018 Statewide General Election.
FISCAL IMPACT
There is no fiscal impact other than staff time.

Public contact was made by posting the Council agenda on the City’s official-notice bulletin board outside City Hall Council Chambers. A complete agenda packet is available on the City’s website and in the City Clerk’s Office at least 72 hours prior to a Regular Meeting and 24 hours prior to a Special Meeting.
