BACKGROUND
Youth Commission FY2018-19 Work Plan includes a goal to be involved and support a booth that the Central Park Library's Inclusive Makerspace event in partnership with the Library and Therapeutic Recreation Services. The purpose of the Inclusive Makerspace will be to provide persons with special needs to explore STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) activities. The first Inclusive Makerspace was initially held during the 2017-18 term at the Central Library in collaboration with the Library, the Parks & Recreation Therapeutic Recreation Services Program, and the Youth Commission. Over 200 youth with special needs and their families attended the event.

DISCUSSION
Committee members will provide an update to meeting attendees on the 2019 event plans and logistics. The Committee discussed the start date of marketing to begin on Friday, March 15, to coincide with the next Sunset Cinema. Jon Kawada, staff liaison, Nan Choi, Youth Librarian, and Lauren Council, Therapeutic Recreation Coordinator, will discuss staff's administrative responsibilities for the event, including, but not limited to, volunteers, event layout and schedule, and registration.

ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
The action being considered does not constitute a "project" within the meaning of the California Environmental Quality Act ("CEQA") pursuant to CEQA Guidelines section 15378(b)(5) in that it is a governmental organizational or administrative activity that will not result in direct or indirect changes in the environment.
