BACKGROUND
On May 12, 2019, the American Cancer Society will celebrate the 30th anniversary of Courageous Kids Day. This event is held each Mother's Day at California's Great America Theme Park, for children currently in treatment for cancer and their immediate families, to enjoy a day of fun and making memories. For the past 30 years, the staff at California's Great America has been directly involved to help support the annual event.

DISCUSSION
The City is honored to recognize California's Great America Theme Park for 30 years of contribution to children with cancer and their families through Courageous Kids Day. California's Great America Theme Park has generously provided complimentary admission and picnic lunches for Courageous Kids Day.

In recognition of 30 years of partnering with the American Cancer Society to support Courageous Kids Day, the Mayor and City Council will present a City Proclamation to General Manager Manny Gonzalez to accept on behalf of California's Great America Theme Park.

This is an information report only and no action is being taken by the City Council and no environmental review under the California Environmental Quality Act ("CEQA") is required.

FISCAL IMPACT
There is no cost to the City other than staff time.
