Report
BACKGROUND
Girl Scout Troop 61413 is made up of 4th grade students from Don Callejon School and Washington Open Elementary School. Girl Scout Troop 61413 has been working with Ulistac Natural Area as part of their Scout Bronze Award project, which is a girl-led project to take action in one's community, requires every scout to contribute over 20 hours of community service, and is the highest honor that a Girl Scout Junior can earn.

DISCUSSION
For their Scout Bronze Award project, Girl Scout Troop 61413 has been growing native milkweed that will become the foundation of a new butterfly garden in Ulistac Natural Area. The scouts also participated in Wildflower Day at Ulistac Natural Area where they hosted a booth to teach people about butterflies and how milkweed can help bring monarch butterflies back to Santa Clara. In addition to their community involvement, the scouts have visited younger troops to recruit them in their mission to save butterflies and to help lead them in Girl Scout activities.

As a Special Order of Business, Girl Scout Troop 61413 will give a presentation on their project at Ulistac Natural Area and share their plan on how to help save the monarch butterflies in Santa Clara.
