REPORT TO COUNCIL

SUBJECT

Title

Presentation on 2nd Annual Action Children’s Business Fair

Report

BACKGROUND

The Acton Children's Business Fair supports kid entrepreneurs all over the world with one-day fairs in local communities. Action Children’s Business Fair events aim to spark children’s entrepreneurial spirit by giving children from ages 5-12 the opportunity to showcase their very own businesses.

Resident Kiran Ganesh and his son, Mikhil, worked with Action Children’s Business Fair and Harker School to organize the first Action Children’s Business Fair event in Santa Clara held on October 14, 2018. There were more than 40 children’s businesses displaying products and several hundred attendees shopping. During the event, the participants had the opportunity to be an entrepreneur for a day and sell creative products that they either designed or built by themselves.

The 2nd Annual Action Children’s Business Fair will be held on October 12, 2019, at Live Oak Park in Santa Clara.

DISCUSSION

To encourage young entrepreneurs to participate in the 2nd Annual Action Children’s Business Fair, Kiran Ganesh and his son, Mikhil, will share the successes of last year’s event and give a presentation on how to participate at the upcoming fair.

In recognition for his work in bringing the Action Children’s Business Fair to Santa Clara, the Mayor and Council will present Mikhil with a Certificate of Special Mayoral Recognition.
