BACKGROUND
In June 2016, Council approved three years of financial support for Healthier Kids Foundation (HKF) in the amount of $70,000 per year ($210,000 total) for services focused on health and dental screenings and health education programs for Santa Clara residents. On April 23, 2019 Council approved a six-month extension of the agreement, and on May 7, 2019 approved additional funding through December 31, 2019.

DISCUSSION
The FY 2018/19 goals for HKF were to screen 1,000 children for vision, 500 children for visible dental issues, 500 children for adequate hearing and target 200 parents to attend a "10 Steps to a Healthy You!" class. According to the fourth quarter report, HKF tallied 1,286 Vision First screenings (127% of goal), 618 Hearing First screenings (124% of goal), 811 Dental First screenings (162% of goal), and 172 parents attended 10 Steps for Parents (86% of goal). Staff will return in the fall with information related to alternative service delivery models and service needs.

ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
The action being considered does not constitute a "project" within the meaning of the California Environmental Quality Act ("CEQA") pursuant to CEQA Guidelines section 15378(a) as it has no potential for resulting in either a direct physical change in the environment, or a reasonably foreseeable indirect physical change in the environment.

FISCAL IMPACT
The three-year agreement with Healthier Kids Foundation (HKF) was for the amount of $70,000 per year ($210,000 total).
