Youth Commission 2019/20 Work Plan & Goals
Report
BACKGROUND
The Youth Commission develops an annual work plan for each term which is created through a discussion of current trends relating to the youth and teen population. For the 2019/20 term the following goals were selected based on priority and community needs:
* Foster inclusiveness in the community;
* Encourage health and wellness;
* Support youth in government; and,
* Help the environment.
DISCUSSION
Following input from Mayor and City Council at the annual joint meeting on December 10, 2019, the Youth Commission reviewed their 2019/20 Work Plan and the following themes:
* Environmentalism
* Inclusiveness
* Public outreach
Proposed activities related to the themes included:
* A multicultural event
* An environmental resource fair
* An intergenerational event
To maximize the potential of these goals, the Staff Liaison will propose opportunities to increase the frequency and exposure of the committees' activities to the public. These collaborations may include partnering with other commissions and organizing resource booths at City-wide special events.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
The action being considered does not constitute a "project" within the meaning of the California Environmental Quality Act ("CEQA") pursuant to CEQA Guidelines section 15378(b)(5) in that it is a governmental organizational or administrative activity that will not result in direct or indirect changes in the environment.

Public contact was made by posting the Youth Commission's agenda on the City's official-notice bulletin board outside City Hall Council Chambers. A complete agenda packet is available on the City's website and in the City Clerk's Office at least 72 hours prior to a Regular Meeting and 24 hours prior to a Special Meeting.
