REPORT TO YOUTH COMMISSION

SUBJECT
Title
Youth Commission Committee Report on Work Plan Goal-Inclusiveness

Report
BACKGROUND
The Youth Commission FY 2019/20 Work Plan includes a goal to foster inclusiveness amongst their peers and within the community. During the past two terms, commissioners have hosted the Inclusive Makerspace, a STEM-based event for youth with special needs. This term, they are looking to focus on highlighting the variety of cultures present in the San Francisco Bay Area, specifically those within the City of Santa Clara.

DISCUSSION
The Youth Commission's Inclusiveness Committee (Committee) members will provide an update to meeting attendees on ideas to implement the Committee's goals. One of the possible activities is to host a Multicultural Fair where the public can learn more about the cultures in the Bay Area. Cultural groups would be invited to share a performance, provide information about their culture, and highlight their unique foods through food vendors. Committee members are expected to discuss and gather feedback on their tentative activity.

ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
The action being considered does not constitute a "project" within the meaning of the California Environmental Quality Act ("CEQA") pursuant to CEQA Guidelines section 15378(b)(5) in that it is a governmental organizational or administrative activity that will not result in direct or indirect changes in the environment.

PUBLIC CONTACT
Public contact was made by posting the Youth Commission's agenda on the City's official-notice bulletin board outside City Hall Council Chambers. A complete agenda packet is available on the City's website and in the City Clerk's Office at least 72 hours prior to a Regular Meeting and 24 hours prior to a Special Meeting. A hard copy of any agenda report may be requested by contacting the City Clerk's Office at (408) 615-2220, e-mail clerk@santaclaraca.gov or at the public information desk at any City of Santa Clara public library.
