BACKGROUND
At the June 25, 2017 Senior Advisory Commission meeting, the Commission brainstormed projects and activities for the 2018-19 Work Plan. The draft plan was created through discussion of current trends relating to the senior population. The following goals are of interest based on priority and community needs:
* Develop opportunities to promote Health and Wellness
o Host "Be Strong, Live Long" Health & Wellness Fair - May 2019
o Support the "Sandwich" generation through activities, events, and education opportunities
* Promote Quarterly Elder Fraud Prevention Workshops
* Champion implementation of the Senior Needs Assessment findings
* Send two (2) representatives to attend the City's ADA Committee
* Send two (2) representatives to attend the Pedestrian Master Plan Committee

DISCUSSION
Beginning in August, the Senior Advisory Commission will provide monthly updates on the status of the Work Plan Goals for the year. Commissioners will participate in projects based on interest and availability.
A. Develop opportunities to promote Health and Wellness
* Commissioner McCauley will provide a verbal update on the "Be Strong, Live Long" Health & Wellness Fair
* Commissioners will provide a verbal update on the support of the "Sandwich generation" through activities, events, and education opportunities
B. Promote Elder Fraud Prevention Workshops
* Commissioners will provide a verbal update on the promotion of Elder Fraud Prevention Workshops in the areas of emotional, financial, internet safety and other relevant topics.
C. Champion implementation of the Senior Needs Assessment findings
* Commissioners will discuss the findings of the Senior Needs Assessment and potential recommendations for City consideration.
D. Send two (2) representatives to attend the City's ADA Committee
* Commissioners will provide a verbal update.
